"And on the seventh day, God created a bar. With shiny cherry-wood furnishing, glistening hardwood floors, and seven smart-looking plasma-screen TVs, Genesis screams "brand-spankin’ new"—and it is. This classy sports bar opened across the street from Elaine’s, Woody Allen’s old haunt, in January of 2006, and owners have plans for sidewalk seating and a backyard beer garden when the weather turns warm. Young professionals and older neighborhood folks will both enjoy the moderately priced lunch, dinner, and brunch menus, and while service is currently slow, the kitchen is already turning out delicious apps and entrées. Genesis offers Magners, Smithwicks, and Guinness on tap, but it’s no rowdy Irish sports pub. Take a date for a drink or your parents for dinner and you’ll impress, without breaking the bank."

ZAGAT NIGHTLIFE 2006

"Review Hightlights – There’s now another sportsbar on the upper east side corridor, this shiny new wood-lined arrival with requisite plasma tvs and tap brews; pub grub is also on the menu, and come summertime, there will be a backyard beer garden in which to enjoy it."

JOONBLOG NEW YORK

"This well-polished Upper East Side destination hopes to be more than the average sports bar. Rich wood accents, several flatscreen TVs, and a hearty selection of brews on tap make Genesis a great stop for dates as well as the playoffs. You can enjoy everything from weekend brunch to a late bite without ever feeling rushed. Genesis will surely become a neighborhood fave."
